Long time no see to you my guests! And a warm welcome to new readers!
This term has been a roll coaster of emotions & events!
There was the 3 month bus strike which left me & my friends taking cabs whenever we wanted to leave the house. I didn’t get out much, except for classes. Getting to class coasted $15, plus another $15 to return home
Then there was a lock up of this blog & my Twitter because of privacy concerns, caused by a boy who was a stalker both online & offline.
Then there was the Massive Group Project for my English-Gothic Novel class, which consumed my life, & ended in a spectacular class presentation! Our project was about the Gothic in Musicals. Our group went over the top for the presentation, as did all the other groups. There were tasty baked goodies, everyone was dressed in costumes (I was dressed in a French maid costume, with my hair teased to a crazy amount of puff & massive eyelashes, doing my best to look like Magenta), & we ended off with a dance number. Yes, doing pelvic thrusts during the Time Warp in front of the class was quiet the experience. The project was a major success; we all scored in the 80s. I have not seen an 80 in English since high school, so getting an 85 (or was it 84…) in a 3rd year English course was an amazing feeling.
And let’s not forget the night class from hell with a professor whose teaching methods (or lack there of) did not mix with my way of learning. What a nightmare! But all that matters is that I passed the course & will not have to deal with it ever again!
But overall, this was one of my worst terms at MUN. I didn’t do really bad in my courses, but I didn’t do really good either, especially in my night class. Worst of all, every time I would start to write a blog post or work on a story, I would feel guilty, for not studying & thus nothing got written
More recently, I’ve had the stomach flu
But enough about all that, here’s some pictures that I collected over the term, enjoy!
We may have had a green Christmas, but the next month certainly made up for that. This was the sight that everyone in St. John’s woke up to one January morning.
I was super excited to get my CTFxC is For Haters hoodies, a belated Christmas gift. Long story short, CTFxC stands for Charles Trippy Family Core, & Charles is a YouTuber who vlogs his life. You can check out Charles, his fiancée Alli, and their dogs Zoey & Marely as they vlog their lives on YouTube. The white hairs that you see belong to their dogs Zoey & Marley. Since they package & send out their merchandise from their apartment, it’s not unusual to find a hair or two on your merch. I was not at all grossed out by this, as some may be (most people aren’t!), in fact, I was excited & was looking for the little white hairs on the hoodies when it arrived. And if I hadn’t lost the hairs I would be cloning Zoey and Marely… I mean… Next Photo!
A reminder of the all the taxi rides that were taken.
These were the “taxi vouchers” that my friend Stacey got. These were sold by Metrobus management as a way to help out bus riders. The whole thing was over long ago but it still pisses me off to no end!
Not to mention we’ve got a mayor who doesn’t think that busses/public transportation is an essential service. Makes me wish I could vote in the next St. John’s municipal election. Sorry Mayor, myself and many others, have to disagree with you.
My new friend & still nameless skelanimal
When I went back to town I forgot to bring a stuffed animal with me. Call me a child but I was saddened by this. My mom offered to send me one from home in the mail but that distressed me more than having left all my friends at home. So I popped out to Toys R Us & picked up this little fellow. I never gave him a proper name, just been calling him Kat. Any suggestions?
My haul after a successful visit to the second hand bookstore
A massive hardcover with tons of photos, a book on Gothic Catherdals, Anne Rice - “The Interview With The Vampire”, C.S. Lewis – “The Last Battle”, & Frances Hodgson Burnett – “A Little Princess” & “The Secret Garden”
Who would have thought that one could get delicious ice cream for $4 dollars from a vending machine? What a treat this turned out to be!
This picture is a little blurry, but what can I say, it was taken on a moving bus
It’s something I love to do, read and if I can, capture what people write on walls. That can get a bit awkward though, when trying to take a picture when you’re in a bathroom stall… Just saying…
While this may just seem like a very simple thing, this is the most amazing thing ever! You see this cake is really a cupcake, a cupcake that was made in a mug in the microwave in 3 minutes. Oh yes, it is life changing for cupcake lovers. I will have to share the recipe with you some day.
From my last visit to the GR section (folklore section) of the QEII (Queen Elizabeth II) library before heading home for the summer
This will always be my favourite section of the library, how lovely it is to pull a random book of fairytales off the shelf & find such charming pictures.
The Breakfast of Champions
Yes, this is what got me through this term, instant French vanilla cappuccino and chocolate biscotti
What a night of crazy packing! Luckily though not as crazy as terms past, since my Dad came into town to pick me up, which meant I could bring a lot more home with me, not to mention with the new room I have a larger closet to store things in.
Well, here’s hoping that I shall not have any more lengthy absences from the blog. And with a rather uneventful summer planned, I should be able to update more often here
Stay Spooky,
